Accessibility statement
The Podravka Group is committed to ensuring digital accessibility of its online content for all users, including people with disabilities. This statement covers the Coolie Food Report 2025 section (https://www.coolinarika.com/foodhacks/) within the www.coolinarika.com domain and applies in accordance with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882, EAA).
Standards and guidelines
The website has been tested against:
- WCAG 2.2 level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines);
- EN 301 549 (European standard for ICT accessibility).
Compliance status
The Coolie Food Report section is largely compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA (status: partially compliant). The vast majority of criteria are met, and automated testing (axe-core 4.10) reports no violations on any page of the section. The remaining deviations relate to a limited number of criteria listed below (primarily video captions, behaviour at 200% zoom, and certain keyboard interactions), which we are actively working on.
The section is built on the visual design tool Readymag, which generates content through pixel-positioned DOM elements rather than semantic HTML, which limits achieving full compliance without rebuilding it in a semantic framework. We continuously work on improvements with the goal of reaching full WCAG 2.2 level AA compliance by the end of 2026.
Content that is not yet fully accessible
The section is largely accessible. A limited part of the content is not yet fully compliant; it is listed below, with an explanation and a plan to address it.
1. Remaining shortcomings (being addressed)
Automated testing (axe-core 4.10, WCAG 2.2 AA) across all Food Report pages reports no violations. The remaining shortcomings relate to criteria that require manual evaluation:
- Synchronized video captions and descriptions (WCAG 1.2.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.3): the video content in the Food Report currently has no synchronized captions or text transcripts. These are planned for the next iteration.
- Resize to 200% (WCAG 1.4.4): because of the fixed, pixel-positioned layout of the Readymag tool, zooming to 200% may cause overlapping and horizontal scrolling.
- Focus order and keyboard interaction (WCAG 2.4.3, 2.1.2): the Tab navigation sequence through the absolutely-positioned Readymag widgets does not always follow the visual order; some interactive components (modals, quiz) need further keyboard-support work.
- Heading hierarchy (WCAG 1.3.1): the heading structure meets WCAG 2.2 level AA; best-practice tools flag one heading on the home page whose level is not ideally ordered, which we plan to harmonize in the next content iteration.
2. Disproportionate burden
At the time of publication of this Statement, no content is exempted on the grounds of disproportionate burden. Instead of a complete rebuild in a semantic framework, an augmentation layer has been applied (skip-to-content link, focus indicators, prefers-reduced-motion support, marking of decorative elements, accessible link names, JSON-LD structured data, and page title and description overrides) that achieves the large majority of accessibility goals, as described in the Technical notes below. The remaining shortcomings are being addressed through continuous improvements.
3. Content not within the scope of the legislation
- Third-party content not under Coolinarika's control (e.g. the embedded Infobip LiveChat widget — accessibility is the responsibility of the service provider).
- Content published before 23 September 2018 that is not essential for active administrative processes.
Technical notes on applied mitigations
The following accessibility and discoverability enhancements have been applied at the infrastructure level (NGINX reverse proxy):
- Setting
lang="hr"on the root<html>element and a correct page title. - Injection of a skip-to-content link wired to the main content of the page.
- Global
:focus-visiblestyles andprefers-reduced-motionsupport. - Marking decorative graphic elements (Readymag shapes) as hidden from screen readers (
aria-hidden), removing noise from screen-reader navigation. - Adding accessible names (
aria-label) to navigation links that contain only graphics. - Replacement of Readymag's generic description and Twitter handle with brand-relevant values.
- JSON-LD structured data (Organization, WebSite, Article) for AI and search engine visibility.
- Pre-rendered, accessible snippet versions of every page are served to AI and search engine crawlers that do not execute JavaScript.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement is based on an independent accessibility assessment and on an evaluation of the Food Report section. The methodology included:
- Independent assessment against the WCAG 2.2 AA / EN 301 549 test suite.
- Automated testing (Lighthouse, axe-core 4.10) against the rendered version of the page in Chrome.
- Manual keyboard-only and screen-reader testing (VoiceOver, NVDA) on a sample of pages.
The statement was last reviewed on 1 June 2026. The next regular review is planned for December 2026.
